Island of the Blue Dolphins
1 journaler for this copy...
The loosely fact-based story is about a 12-year-old Indian girl who gets left behind when her tribe leaves the island they live on and she lives for 18 years by herself.
I know many a jr. high kid has loved this book, but I found the dialectical writing hard to sit through. Not that I couldn't understand it just fine, I just found it annoying.
The imagery is vivid, though, so if you can read THROUGH the dialog and escape into the story, it's really very good.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
We stopped at the Flying J for gas and set the book on top of the gas pump. I think this method of release should work well. After all, everyone at the Flying J is on their way to somewhere else. This is not a simple commuter gas station. It will give someone else something to do in the car, and when they get where they are going, they can release it again! (Hopefully, they will come on here & make a journal entry first, though!) =)
