After the publication of Lawrence M. Krauss's 'The physics of Star Trek' this sort of popular science book became a sort of genre in itsel, with all manner of scientists and professors looking to make a quick buck by dumbing down their work for a general audience.

It is however a formula that works very well. This book is no exception. Very well worth a read.

Oh dear, I knew I would have trouble resisting this when the release alert came through...i'm a very weak person, with particular weaknesses for adding to my to-be-read pile (natch) and 'pop' science. Thanks Karic31 for continuing to support the bookshelf in Caffe Nero :)

I’m a real sucker for this type of book, and was not disappointed. Although MW is sometimes cynical, and lets his logical scientific brain rule his heart in most instances, the studies are good. Sadly, not much joy on the existence of ghosts, life after death, the paranormal or mind reading, or hopes of inter-stellar travel, time travel (backwards or forwards) or precognition. We are left with some crumbs of comfort with man’s ability to heal him/herself, and others, and the sheer number-crunching possibility of other life somewhere else in the universe…

This may not be to everyone’s liking, but a book - a chapter(!) - that references Carl Jung (synchronicity), The Physics of Star Trek, Shrodinger’s Cat, and Lyall Watson’s Supernature, is good enough for me :)

Right up my street. I remeber reading stuff like this in the early 60's when at school. Nice to come across some updated reading. I remembered some of the stuff like OoBE, SHC etc
Found and will be set wild again at Coffee Nero, Buttermarket Ipswich.
