Thank you so much for the trade. This book does look cute and I am looking forward to reading it!

Journal Entry 4 by Karenlea from Glendale, California USA on Tuesday, July 17, 2007
This book was cute, with likeable characters. I found many parts of it to be enjoyable. My main problem with it, is although the plot had tons of action, it all seemed to be too convienant or things seemed to wrap up too easily. I wanted more conflict.

Sending to "Guinaveve" as a RABCK. Enjoy! Mailed on 1/5/08

Thank you Karenlea. I look forward to reading this. After, I plan to include it in a bookbox I am putting together to go out sometime this month or next.
THANKS!

It took me a little while to get into this book and to care about the characters, probably because this is not the type of book I normally read. Once I got started though, it was a fun read and I enjoyed it. I don't think I will look for anything else by this author, but this one was fine.

On a whim, I searched the listings at AbeBooks and eBay for the keywords "bookcrossing" or "BCID" or variants, and found several listings that included some reference to BC labels in the descriptions. (I don't mind seeing BC books in bookstores or for sale - that's part of a book's life cycle as far as I'm concerned. And in this case the BC info was preserved, so that's good too.) I decided to order a few of those books so I could re-release them, and this well-traveled softcover arrived today. (Waving hi to the previous journalers!) Part of the fun in all this for me is in seeing the books' previous travels, which range from "none at all" to "quite a lot", with this one falling into the latter category.

This one's from the "Domestic Equalizers" series, romantic/mystery tales, where the quirky characters solve crimes and attempt to fix relationships and/or mete out justice on those who've done their women wrong. But the opening on this one suggests a darker subplot - the theft of horses, to be sold to slaughterhouses... not exactly the kind of opening I'd expect in a "lighthearted love story"! There is some fun banter here and there, and I can't fault the closing line ("Amen, and pass that margarita pitcher"), but I admit I didn't get caught up in either the mystery or the romance. I think my favorite parts were the bonus bits, the humorous advice in "Avon's Little Black Book", and the recipe section - which does indeed include suggestions for margaritas...
