Bought at a second hand book sale at work.
Tony Hawkes had a hit song in 1988. Now he wants to see if he can get another one, any where, any how. For two years he changes acts, styles, locations. From Nashville to Amsterdam, Romania to Africa. Its only a chance encounter with Norman Wisdom that things get really strange. Is it really possible that together they could crash the charts in Albania.
A true story by the author of "Round Ireland with a Fridge" and "Playing the Moldovans at Tennis".

I couldn't get into this book. I think having read and really enjoyed two books by this author I felt his idea (take an odd bet and try and fulfill it) had run it's course.
Someone else I know really enjoyed the book. Hopefully the next read does also.

Picked up at the meeting. I've never read a Tony Hawks book before and I just got the "Round Ireland with a Fridge" book yesterday, so therefore this book caught my eye..
This was my first book by this author and I was really looking forward to it because I had heard so much about him. All in all it was an enjoyable read. There were many really good bits in it, but also quite a few that were a bit slow-going. I did like it though and I'll definitely try some more books of his! (I particularly liked the chapter where he goes to Holland - me being Dutch and all :-)
CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
After the booksale at Trinity this morning I had to make some space on my shelves, so I decided to bring a stack of books to the knitting meeting in Bell Cafe this afternoon.
Hope you enjoy the book!
