I hope whoever finds this enjoys it as much as i did - as this particular copy in an ex-library book (purchased not stolen!) it has already been enjoyed by many people.

I really wanted to enjoy this but something seemed to be missing for me. Some finely tuned detail and laugh out loud moments made this worthwhile but the story went from very slow to a "hang on, what happened there" pace and I'm sure it suffered as a result.

Thanks again Ian!

I checked - and I have read it already....

What a strange book! Funnier than I expected (poking fun at narrow-minded parochial English fundamentalism when faced with the fact of lesbian love), but with some strange diversions and detours. I wasn't at all sure about the dissertation on "history" in the chapter headed Deuteronomy (I thought she'd missed the point about historians being vital for history, but there you go...). It wasn't a page-turner, but was strangely captivating - I enjoyed it!

Received this book today as a donation to be given away at the International Day of the Book festival in Kensington, Maryland, on April 27, 2008.

Thank you so much, Flambard!

This is a very good book. I read it not too long ago on a bookring. I didn't think I'd like it, but by the time I finished read it, I not only liked it, but I also started acquiring more books by the same author.

I just picked this up at my first bookcrossing meet-up in Westminister, Maryland. Absolutely lovely people. Thanks for the book! I plan to read it soon.

Well, I've just given up on Winterson. I was a few chapters in, but the characters weren't holding my interest well. I thought I would pick it up again, but nearly everything else around me suddenly seemed more interesting, and now I know I won't finish it.

It's a pretty book, and it's very thin, so it will travel with me back to Oregon where I'll try to find the right reader for it.
