What a Carve Up!

This book is quite amazing, and I've never read anything like it. It took a while for me to see how everything was going to pull together, but I was hooked even before then. Interestingly, I just checked the book for inspiration on how to describe it, and saw there was no description, just rave reviews.
It follows a very rich and very powerful family (the Winshaws) in the UK from the 40s through to the present day, along with a writer who is attempting to write a book about them. The Winshaws are into everything - banking, arms dealing, the health system and agri-business. If you're a big fan of Maggie Thatcher, this book may cause your blood-pressure to rise sharply! If you're not, you'll probably find the first mention of her hilarious. This is comedy of the blackest sort though, and some of it is almost unbearably sad. Well worth reading!
