Lots of fun. I came to care about each character in turn. I was sad when their respective stories ended. Fun how characters come together during the course of the story. Could use a little more of a plot.
Released to Don. Enjoy your Italian class. I hope it is this interesting.
This is a book about an evening class taking Beginning Italian. It was given to me by a neighbor (the original registrant on BookCrossing) who knew that I was taking the same class. I'm not a big Maeve Binchy fan, but I did enjoy reading the book. It brought back lots of memories I have from my Italian Class.
I am now in an Italian Conversation group which meetings once a week in Raleigh, NC. I plan to give it to someone in the group to read, probably tonight (6/24/03). Enjoy!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book, especially since it was passed to me by a member of my own "evening class." The experiences of the fictitious class were delightfully similar to our own, and the characters varied and believable. The people of Dublin come to vivid life here, as does the little world of a small Italian village. The main characters struggle so persistently through difficulties toward a better life that one is glad at the end to see them rewarded. While some of the final events are predictable, on the whole the book deals with love and beauty and goodness in a fairly unsentimental way. There's good sense and good humor in this book. I passed it on to another member of our evening class.
Received the book from a fellow classmember of our evening Italian class - how appropriate. I enjoyed the building of each character and how they intertwined.
