Picked up from the June Lifeline Bookfest.

From the back cover:

When Vivian is evacuated from London in 1939, she is unexpectedly whisked away from there, instead of to the safety of the countryside.

The Time Patrol works to preserve the correct sequence of historic events, but rogue time-travellers are plotting to take contol and are stealing the wards that protect the city. If they succeed, Time City and History as we know it will be destroyed.

Jonathan and Sam are convinced that Vivian can help save their world. But how can she possibly know what to do, when the important event hasn't even happened yet?

As far as childrens books go this one was a little confusing.

The concept of Time City was explained many times, including the time ghosts. The premise of past, present and future in the one city was a almost beyond me but I think I got it in the end.

I think that for a good filmaker, this would translate to a movie very easily with the descriptions of the clothes, the time ghosts, the ceremonies.....all over the top.

Oh, what fun! I picked up this book on the table at the Australian Bookcrossing Convention 08 trivia table. I know the author, so felt hopeful that it would be a nice, fun read. And so far, it is. Although I am only half way through, I am enjoying this book.
