Just bought this book on eBay and can't wait to read it!

Synopsis from Amazon

When seven-year-old Faith White and her mother, Mariah, swing by the house on the way to ballet class, they find that Daddy is home and he's brought a playmate. This is not the first time he's been caught cheating. After the fuss and feathers have settled and Dad has moved out, Faith begins talking to an imaginary friend who, it seems, is God. And God is not male but female. Faith is able to effect miraculous cures and is also occasionally afflicted with stigmata. When the media gets wind of this, the circus begins. The local rabbi takes an interest (Faith and Mariah are technically Jewish), and the local Catholic priest pays several inquiring visits. There is also a gaggle of psychologists. Throw in a professional atheist for the romance angle and a vicious custody fight with an egomaniacal lawyer, and you have a riveting read. Picoult gets better and better with each book. If you can suspend disbelief on one or two points, this is an entrancing novel.

I finished reading this book last night and really enjoyed it. I found it was one of those books that I just couldn't put down. I'm a big fan of Jodi Picoult's books but am trying to pace myself with them in order to be able to enjoy them more when I do read one. This was one of my faves by her as it was a little different to others that I've read. I found it more intriguing and I couldn't work out how it was going to end. This is a story that will stay with me.

This book is going into my Top 10 reads of the years so far. This year I'm compiling the list and adjusting it as the year goes on, otherwise at the end of the year I can never think which books I enjoyed the most!

I'm now going to put this book in a Virtual Book Box on BCUK_Extra in the hope that it will find some more readers who'll enjoy it.

RELEASE NOTES:

Another brilliant book by Jodi Picoult. She tackles very difficult subjects yet they are all gripping stories. This is now off to Perfect-Circle for the January Birthday Exchange.
Have a wonderful birthday and I hope you enjoy this wishlist book.

A great read that I couldn't put down, which is pretty much what I expect from Picoult's books. I loved the characters in this and I found the whole subject of Faith's visions & miracles really interesting. Thank you Teachie for this fab book.

For some reason this was the least addictive of Picoult's books for me, I felt the first part of the book like a struggle. The religious themes of this story weren't very interesting, and perhaps I'm too realistic for miracles like these?
I'm happy, however, that I went on with the story - the latter part of the book was more captivating. I feel a little bit disappointed, that the structures of Picoult's books are so repetitive - I've read nearly all of them. Now I'll need a pause with Picoult.

Keeping Faith wasn't as captivating as Picoult's best books are, but it was still good. Especially the first part was a bit too slow for my tastes, although right now it didn't matter that much: My life is very busy at the moment and I've only been able to read the book little by little.
Anyway, like lukutuoli, I enjoyed the second part more than the first. Also, the religious themes of the book weren't that interesting to me either, I preferred the medical, legal and ethical things. I liked the part in the court the most and my favourite character was Millie. The thing that made me wonder the most was the fact that everyone and anyone seemed to have the right to have a say about Faith, to see her, meet her and even test or photograph and film her, plus practically camp at her back yard preventing her to play outside and go to school. Isn't there any rules, restrictions or laws forbiding such violations of a child's privacy? Or do they just not work in practice? I also wonder if anything like that could happen here in Finland.
Conclusion: Not such a page-turner as some Picoult books are, but an interesting read anyway. Thank you everybody to keep this book going and allowing me to read it, too! It's going to continue its journey soon.
