I was disappointed in this book. Usually Siddons has fast-paced, involved plots but this one just sort of dragged on, as though she kept thinking of something new and then throwing it in, instead of having plotted the whole story out ahead of time. Her characters usually have many facets but I found myself not really caring about them as the story progressed.
Her descriptive phrases, as usual - thank god, were wonderful. She really makes you feel like you are there, feeling the heat, hearing and seeing the scenery as she describes it.

I was given the book by a coworker who had received it from a friend. She wasn''t interested in reading it and knew I was an avid reader so she passed it on to me. I read it and passed it on to my mother in Everett WA who also read it. She doesn''t have internet access so I am writing for the two of us. My mother gave it back to me and I passed it on to another coworker.
