I couldn't resist buying this for 20p - it's a fabulous book! The copy I actually read is here, and I would recommend this to anyone/everyone!

Oh what a lovely suprise that was arriving today. Tickled pink - was feeling a bit frazzled and wondering what I could read to rest and revive me ! This is just the ticket. The beautiful cover even gives one a lift.

Wow did this one catch me out! I sat down with this expecting a normal Ishiguro read ..youch. this book was so haunting with so much of what was unsaid floating in the back of your mind. I found myself trying not to think what the answers to some of those questions were almost echoing what the story actually told. The halycon days of school and summer sun and ..
all worked so well. I did a stint at boarding school at age 9/10 and his writing of it fitted like a glove. The relationships were so beautifully drawn and so real my heart went with them on their journeys.ooohh xx
This is one of the most emotionally powerful books I have read in a long time..it left me sad for many days afterwards.
I collect Ishiguro so will keep this in PC for now but it will be available if anyone should want to read it ..as it is one, when I have the courage I will want to return to.
