I like this author because she tends to write about women's issues..albeit women from the Victorian period, usually. This one was about two women. One is a medium who does seances for the upper class and a suicidal woman from an aristocratic family. The medium is in a woman's prison for a seance that went wrong when a woman died of fright. The "lady" is doing her community service for trying to kill herself by going the prison to see the women incarcerated there.
She becomes obsesssed with the medium and what follows is not entirely unexpected.
