In 1897 Ronald Preston attempts the seemingly impossible, building a railway line from exotic Mombasa on the east cost of Africa to Lake Victoria deep in the continent's dark and wild heart.
Enjoyed this book, especially as it is set in a part of Africa I am hoping to visit next year. As it is based loosely on the history of the Uganda Railway it will be interesting to see the same sights 100+ years later.
