The Ersatz Elevator (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 6)
13 journalers for this copy...
Dear Reader,
If you have just picked up this book, then it is not too late to put it back down. Like the previous books in A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, there is nothing to be found in these pages but misery, despair, and discomfort, and you still have time to choose something else to read.
Within the chapters of this story, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire encounter a darkened staircase, a red herring, some friends in a dire situation, three mysterious initials, a liar with an evil scheme, a secret passageway, and parsley soda.
I have sworn to write down these tales of the Baudelaire orphans so the general public will know each terrible thing that has happened to them, but if you decide to read something else instead, you will save yourself from a heapful of horror and woe.
With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

I haven't read the series yet. I will have a few free days around Easter. Then I hope to finish my current read by Haruki Murakami. It's a big one...
Then I'm heading to Violet, Klaus and Sunny so that they can be sent to the next participant in due time.

I was really disappointed about the end!
... SPOILER ...
Not that I insisted on a happy ending. I think this wouldn't have fit anway. And I really appreciate that finding a proper end wouldn't have been easy at all. But this actual end didn't satisfy me at all! ... and I wonder that this is the last book in the series... it seems that it could have been going on and on and on for ages like this. And I don't like it.
Also, what about Beatrix???? I really liked these kind of hints 'bout the author in all the other books... but since Esmé was talking about her now - I believe it would have been nice to learn more about this in the end.
But now - this mentioning of Beatrix is just dull.... (better would have been either to leave it as a secret - or reveal everything at the end)
... and speaking of it... what about the place where the Baudelaire house stood... is this a coincidence or what??? It didn't sound like that. Disappointing as well.....
Anyway - I enjoyed reading the series and I will forward the whole bunch of books today to the next reader.
I also learned a new word from this book. I had no idea what ersatz meant until I read this book. :)
