I LOVED it. Here I was thinking that I couldn't find a book better than the ring I just finished, but I was so wrong! I've already got another copy for my PC, and I can't wait to see what everyone else thinks!

Death was totally my favorite character- I wanted to run up and give him a hug.

Thank you so much classicfox for letting me read this!

Arrived safely. I have another book to finish first, but I hope to get started on this one by Monday. Thanks classicfox for the chance to take part in your bookring...I've heard such great things about "The Book Thief", so I'm really looking forward to digging in.

Journal Entry 8 by wingdg7500wing from Lancaster, Pennsylvania USA on Friday, July 6, 2007
By far the best book I've read so far this year. So well written, with wonderfully descriptive characters, and a haunting story that has left a huge impact on me. It brings home once again the power of words...the power to move a nation, or a solitary individual...for good or evil!! I'm surprised that this is marketed as a young adult book, as I think it would be a bit much for a 'tween' to really absorb, but it should most definitely be required reading for middle school/high school age readers!!

Thank you classicfox, for allowing me to participate in this bookring. The power of it's words has deeply touched me, and I have you to thank for your generosity in sharing those words!

The Book Thief is safe and sound in SW Florida. I'll be starting it as soon as I finish here; it's going to be my first book for October. (And here I was earlier trying to decide what to read:)

10 plus stars! This book was amazing. I knew the ending was going to be sad so the last half of the book took me a little time because I could only read for awhile, then had to put it down til the next day. Loved Leisel, Rudy, Max, Hans and Rosa and even Death! I had read all the glowing comments about this book before so I was anxious to read it. I was not disappointed. I have Lynlee4's address, and book will be on its way to her Saturday (10/13). Thank you so much for including me in this ring.

Wow! What an interesting read! It started out a little bumpy but all of a sudden I was grabbed and couldn't put it down. I love the narrator!

Will send off to Maurean as soon as I get her addy.

Classicfox - thank you for sharing this one!

Journal Entry 19 by Maurean from Atlantic Beach, Florida USA on Wednesday, November 28, 2007
OMGosh! I received this book on Saturday (may have been Friday?) and apparently forgot to journal it...my apologies.
The good news is that I'm starting it today, and am very much looking forward to it! (well...its good news for ME, anyway)
Thanks for sharing it classicfox, and I will journal again, upon completion.

Journal Entry 20 by Maurean from Atlantic Beach, Florida USA on Saturday, December 15, 2007
I admit that I had heard nothing but glowing reviews for this book, and now having read the tale for myself, I must say I agree with every one of them - the characters were wonderful (even Death), the writing of the story was meticulously crafted, and the tale itself was haunting and gripping. This 'review' is shocking to myself, as I generally shy away from (1) YA novels, (2) specifically about horrific or sad events, such as Germany, 1943. Having said that, I'm glad I kept with this one, as it will 'keep' with me for some time....

I will send this along on its jouurney just as soon as I obtain booklady331's addy. (Thanks again for sharing this, classicfox)

It's here! It has, apparently, been here. My husband got the mail out of the box one day in the recent past and tossed it on the floor board of his car.

The Book Thief was amongst the items in that forgotten stack of mail. I'll start reading promptly to make up for lost time!

Journal Entry 24 by unknowncritic on Tuesday, January 29, 2008
What an amazingly wonderful tale! I want to rave about what a spectacular story, but it left me speechelss. All I can think to say is, "WOW!" Great book!

I'm PMing the next in line for an address and will mail by the end of the week.

Thank you for sharing, classicfox!
