Twelve-year-old Summer, her classmate Cletus, and her grieving Uncle Ob set off across West Virginia in search of a "Small Medium at Large" in fond hopes of reaching Aunt May beyond the grave.

Heartbreaking, yet hopeful.

I just received Missing May in the mail. Yet another Newberry medal winner to be crossed off from my list! And a good read, too, I hope. Thanks ever so much, lauraloo29!

It was nice to read a great Newbery winner for a change! I've been stuck with some really bad ones lately... Missing May was compact and yet subtle, all in all a pleasure to read. I was most interested in the class representations inherent in this text.

I think I know who would like to read Missing May as well, but it might take me a while to pass on the book.

Thanks, lauraloo29!

This is so small, only 89 pages, that it should not linger long in Kerava. Where will it go after that? Who knows...
Thank you for the book, Harmaja!

Nice book about sad things. Luckily there was hope at the end. It is difficult to imagine what I would have thought about the book if I had read it when I was the "right age". Would I have shed tears because if my father or would I have thrown the book away? This is a good Newbery book anyway. Not all of them are.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Went to visit my godchild in Boston Children Centre, located in Matopeni, 1 of the biggest slums in Nairobi, Kenya and gave it among the other children and teen books to Stephen Okwaro, who is the principal of the school, to be read to the children there. Thanks to my fellow bookcrossers who made it possible to bring some happiness to these poor children! I am very grateful!
