Jigs and Reels

This is a book of sho stories by Joanne Harris. I'm not always keen on short stories, but I do like the books of Joanne Harris, Chocolat, Five Quarters of the Orange and so on, so gave this a go.
She paints really interesting characters in these stories and there are some quirky and unusaual tales of the everyday and the bizarre here. A good read

picked up at sudbury bookcross meet. not too sold on joanne harris from what i've already read but might give this a whirl (whirl, jigs and reels, geddit?).
I picked this up because I'm a violinist and I liked the title and the cover design. Unfortunately though those were the best things about it! The stories are amusing and at times imaginative, but often also trite and predictable. My main gripe is that they're insubstantial; it's like eating too many jelly tots.
This is the 2nd of Joanne Harris's books I've read. It's going to take a lot to get me to pick up another one.
I hope the next Bookcrosser to pick this one up enjoys it more.

I'm half way through. Plan to release it when I am out and about this summer - somwhere far from Sudbury.
I particularly liked the Faith and Hope story - but that might be just my age!
