From the back: When I look back on my childhood I wonder how I managed to survive at all. It was, of course, a miserable childhood: the happy childhoos is hardly worth your while. Worse than the ordinary miserable childhood is the miserable Irish childhood and worse yet is the miserable Irish Catholic childhood.

Taken out of the You've Gotta Read This/Surprise Fiction book baggie. Thank you, thank you! xx
Oh no! I think my taste in literature must be changing or something. I cannot get into this book! I am finding it dreary, depressing and ultimately - boring! :( I am so, so sorry to those who enjoyed it, but this really isn't a type of memoir that I was expecting. A bit disappointed to be honest, as it received so much hype when it originally came out.
Once again - many thanks to those who shared it and tonnes more apologies for not liking it. *blush*
Will place onto the AVL shelf and perhaps Rabck it.

I must be one of the few people in this world who hasn''t read Angela''s Ashes. I''ve heard it''s great, but I''ve also heard that it''s phenomenally depressing. I look forward to making up my own mind!
Of course, there''s not much story to be had in a happy childhood. I''m very pleased to say that my memoir would be one of the most boring memoirs ever written.
Thanks heaps, MooMoo1977 for sending me two books as part of the sweepstake (I am so totally spoilt this week), and thanks to crimson-tide for organising the sweepstake!
And many thanks to our very hard working postie for delivering all these books!!
