I am reading this second edition of Bad Wisdom to review for the Zodiac Mindwarp & The Love Reaction website www.zodiacmindwarp.com

I won't be releasing this one in a hurry, although I will buy a second one when the book is launched on April 1st 2003.

Warning: Not a family book.

Partial blurb:"Part One in a Trilogy (the remaining two parts are yet to be published) this book documents the protagonists' dark tales of their journey to save the world by placing an icon of Elvis at the North Pole; as good a way as any.

'The Lighthouse' takes the form of a multi-narrative journal, and the reader is dragged self-consciously into the brutal worlds of the authors Mark Manning (AKA Zodiac Mindwarp) and Bill Drummond (former KLF member with Jimmy Cauty) and their faithful compadre Gimpo (former TLR Tour Manager)

In a self conscious act of voyeurism, the reader careers from the horror of the mundane to the horror of the mens' inner visions to the horror of the rock n' pop biz. In spite of this managing to inspire a comedy and pathos which is quite unique (we witness the Revelation of the 'Lost Chord'!) it is a fascinating and beautiful book. By the close one doesn't know whether the Elvis magick will work, but one never stops hoping it will. "

I read this book twice because it was just so bizarre and wild in some places. Actually...it was like being on an acid trip! To say that I "liked" the book wouldnt be the exact right thing to say. I found it raunchy and gorey and sexually explicit, but entertaining despite or maybe because of it's raunchiness. I think the authors are geniuses. Portraying madonna as the "Blaspheming cunt of Sodom" was just hysterical. Just...I don't know..the whole "trip" through this book was, in a way, a sick, twisted magical journey, which I enjoyed. Does that mean I'm odd or deviant? I don't know. All I know is that I was glad to have the experience of travelling with these fellows in search of that elusive "lost cord!"
I can't believe nobody else signed up for this bookring! I think there are quite a few bookcrosser out there who would, um...get a "jolt" from this book.
Let me know what to do with it, now that I've finished. PM your address and I'll send it back...or if you want, we can see if we can get others interested in it.
Anyhow, let me know...and thanks again for me take that wild ride!
