Water for Elephants
2 journalers for this copy...
Bought at a Ralphs grocery store during my lunch break in book desparation- ie. ran out of reading material at work!!! I started it at work and so far, I love it.
Finished...
I absolutely loved this book. The open chapter is one of the best that I have ever read, it instantly drew me into the story. The story is both funny and poignant.
I also liked it because of the subject matter. I find circuses and the circus life to be endlessly facinating. This story also had the added element of being set during the depression and lots of Historical details with that.
I would consider this one of my top ten favorite books and I cannot wait to read others by Sara Gruen.
Sending this to "Ghir" as a trade. Mailed on 5/29/07. Enjoy!!!

Received safely today. Thanks you very much for sending this my way. It sounds like something right up my alley.
I will read, journal, and pass along.
Sucked this down in one sitting. Good storytelling, somewhat odd characters, and the struggle against injustice, all my favorite elements.
Jacob Jankowski abandons vet school immediately before graduating due to a family tragedy. He ends up working for a circus traveling the country by train during a time when many are lucky to find any work at all.
No takers at TOC, 6/16/07.
