I've just put this book together for lukutuoli in Finland and I'll send it ASAP. I hope she'll enjoy the experience. :)

This beautiful book arrived today, thank you so much, Boirina. This is something really special!! There was a lovely, handmade bookmark in the envelope, too. I'm feeling happy :)

In our local BC-meeting we had a conversation of active bookcrossers of the world and somebody mentioned boirina, of course. I remembered this Mandala Colouring Book made by boirina and got an idea:

I'll take the colouring book to our next BC-meeting and arrange a bookring to have one mandala coloured by all the local bookcrossers of Tampere. I counted that there are 21 mandalas in this book, which might be just enough for all the active BCers of my hometown. Let's see, who'll be the first happy one to colour the first mandala!

I hope to get this book back after the bookring is full of beautiful colours :)

VÄRITYSKIRJARINKI:

EI ERILLISIÄ RINKIIN ILMOITTAUTUMISIA! PYRI SIIRTÄMÄÄN KIRJA SEURAAVALLE TAMPERELAISELLE BOOKCROSSAAJALLE, KUNNES KAIKKI MANDALAT ON VÄRITETTY! PALAUTUS LUKUTUOLILLE!

Oh, it was so relaxing and fun to colour the mandala I chose. I would like to know how these designs were maid. Is there a special program for drawing mandalas. I'd like to try designing them myself too.

I have no idea who will get this book next or when. Anyway it will stay among the local bookcrossers. Oh, by the way, I want to see the book when it's full.

These mandalas are so inspiring! I can't wait to start coloring.

Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

I chose "my" mandala right away at yesterday's meeting but only got to actually coloring it today. Sooo relaxing, meditative, and inspiring!

Among my discoveries in the pattern was a slight Byzantine touch alongside those of reproduction & growth in the organic forms of nature (flowers, acorns, roots). I honestly don't know where the Byzanth came from, but the idea certainly added to my selected rich, pregnant colors: beetroot purple, lush dark green, dark earthy brown, heavy golden yellow. I also used the carefree light yellow of a sunny summer day. For an additional season's charm & Yuletide spice, I put in some gingerbread cookie brown :-) The intended result is a flower that has a different bloom for every season, depending on the viewpoint.

OK. Reserved for the next BCer!

It was fun to colour mandala, but I almost ruined it. I'm too used to use computer to colour my drawings...

Symmetry in right quantaties.

Book already passed to Soffiare.

Hmmm, which mandala to choose...

31.1.2008
I ended up using only three colours: yellow, orange and red.

The mandala book ended up in my hands this time. I have already chosen which one I'll colour. :)

I chose to colour a star-like mandala. It's now blue and green, the colours of summer sky and grass or the sea, if you like. It was relaxing and fun to colour, I haven't done any colouring for a long long time.

I'll pass the book on when we have the next meet-up.

The book has waited with me for some inspiration for colouring and tonight was finally the time. I am not too keen in exact symmetry in life, so my Mandala is maybe more on the abstract side :).

The Mandala colouring book will be passed on in the local meeting next week.

Journal Entry 13 by chrisim from Tampere, Pirkanmaa / Birkaland Finland on Friday, February 29, 2008
My turn now! I love symmetry. As a child I loved to draw "mandala flowers" with a pair of compasses.

8.4. I had only four colour pencils so I coloured simple mandala. I passed the book on in today's meet-up.

They said it's my turn next. Nice! :)

This cute colouring book was at our BookCrossing exhibition. It was held in one of the branch libraries of Tampere. The Mandala book had a great time there! :)

Journal Entry 16 by Lukutoukka from Tampere, Pirkanmaa / Birkaland Finland on Monday, July 14, 2008
This book is a really nice idea! I found inspiration today, and ended up to really playing with colours, which gave quite a hippie style to my mandala. Peace, and great summer of love 2008! ;)

I'm taking this to the Tampere meeting tomorrow, so somebody else can participate in this nice little book of art.

Sain värityskirjan eilen tapaamisessa. Harkitsen vielä kahden kuvan välillä, kumman väritän.

Ps. Jos joku lähettää käännöksen tästä, niin vaihdan kielen :)

29.7.2008 The mandala book came home with me from the meeting tonight. I already chose my favorite one, but we'll see when I have the time to colour it...

29.1.2009 Geesh, this has been sitting on my writing table for far too long. I thought I took it with me sometime last autumn... Thanks for pointing out that I still have this colouring book on today's meeting, lukutuoli!

1.2.2009 I started the colouring yesterday and finished it today. It surely was fun, but I didn't remember that my thumb started hurting so badly before - so, that's why I had to take breaks. Maybe I'm just out of practice?

Journal Entry 19 by wingerpaxwing from Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Tuesday, February 10, 2009
This is such a nice task to do! I just have to sharpen my color pencils first and then make the decision which mandala to color...

Many thanks boirina and lukutuoli for this nice book!

I had already chosen the mandala I was going to color in a simple way. Today, somehow, I had a terrible day at work. To brighten up my evening at home, I just had to pick a totally different kind of mandala to be able to use a lot of joyful colors.

I will pass this book to someone in our next meet-up.

Edit:

VUF is the next happy one!

Kiva idea.

Good idea. I coloured like a child, was enthusiasted, bored with the winter grey and white, tried to color a sun in the sky. In Vancouver I saw a fine, real mandala on the floor of a shopping center. The orthodox buddhist breaks the mandala immediately when it is ready and starts a new one. I did not want to scrunch my page. I am not yet a 100% buddhist. :)

Mandala designs has reached me and my coloring work will start asap. This is a lovely idea :)

Journal Entry 24 by engratisbok from Tampere, Pirkanmaa / Birkaland Finland on Sunday, September 13, 2009
Tämä kaunis kirja on nyt minulla. :) Valkkaan ja väritän ja toimitan esim. jossakin miitissä seuraavalle.

EDIT.: Kirja on varattu seuraavaksi Triamylle.

EDIT 2009/12/02: I took the book to a local meetup yesterday for Triamy.

I chose the picture with a nice "sun" in the middle and a lot of "drops" around it. I used all of my 12 new different colour pencils for the colouring. Also the black one. See it? And I also intentionally used white, or actually transparent, colour. I then named the colours after what they represent in the picture, in a form of a "poem". I forgot to take a picture of the finished picture though. :(

@Triamy: Could you take a picture of my colouring and send it to me, please? :)

@Lukutuoli: Are you going to scan and publish the colourings in a web photo album?

Journal Entry 25 by Triamy from Tampere, Pirkanmaa / Birkaland Finland on Tuesday, December 1, 2009
Arrived. Thanks!
------
Coloured something that seemed to be very symmetrical but wasn't at all. The picture tried to mes with my eyes. After colouring the mandala seems to be very screwed.

I will be returning this today to lukutuoli or someone else colorful person. :D

I'll return it to lukutuoli next time we meet.

The colouring book was given to me today in the bc meet, I'll try to be quick and give it forward in the next meet. There are still 3 mandalas to choose from.
