Lots of wonderful ideas for being evil!!
I'm not quite ready for world domination; but I will be the evil coffee maker at work. Everyone will be drinking decaf for the next couple of weeks and then I'll switch to espresso! muhhahahahahah!

On it's way to NMReader today.

Arrived in today's mail. Can't wait to perfect being a villain

Journal Entry 7 by NMReader from Herndon, Virginia USA on Saturday, August 4, 2007
I read this book in two brief reading periods. It made me laugh and it made me realize how much villains have in common.

I think I have perfected my laugh and I think my plan is in place but I am having a horrible time chosing minions and a style for my clothes.

Ah, well now that I have read this book soon there is nothing evil I won''t be able to to do Bhawheha.

Thanks for sharing.

Journal Entry 14 by Cyberkedi from Atlanta, Georgia USA on Sunday, October 14, 2007
A fun and quick read with charming retro pictures. If you have ever dreamed of being a heavy, this guidebook can help you pick a wicked-sounding name, decide on the appropriate villainous career, select your baddie wardrobe, choose the kind of goons and weapons you will use to spread mayhem and thwart the good guys, and more. This book covers only the basics of villainy, and I have seen a lot of this material on websites - but I still got a kick out of it.

I think this got lost in the mail at my PO during the holidays. I finally got the notice, but it looks like it's been there since December 17th!! Ugh! Anyway, it's here now and I will hopefully have it read and sent out in the next week or two.

Journal Entry 17 by emmagoldmanzine from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA on Monday, January 21, 2008
I finished this book and now am prepared to take over the world. I had to read it on the bus so i could make sure that people gave me my space. i have some goof ideas for how best to implement my evil plans. now that i'm prepared to complete my lair and create a mutant race of henchmen i'm ready to send this off to Disphora tomorrow.

Journal Entry 18 by Disphora from Scranton, Pennsylvania USA on Monday, February 18, 2008
So I have the evil laugh down and the evil name, but it seems like henchmen are hard to find.

Nearly finished and I'll be sending out to gorydetails by the end of the week.

Journal Entry 19 by Disphora from Scranton, Pennsylvania USA on Thursday, February 28, 2008
Very funny book overall. I loved the illustrations as well. I must work on building an army of minions.

Sending off today.

"Oh frabjous day! Calloo, callay!" I chortle. [I haven't read the book yet so I can't do the "BWA-Ha-ha-ha" bit yet. Soon, though.] The book arrived safely in today's mail, and I'm looking forward to learning a thing or two before passing it along to randomelement!

Journal Entry 21 by wingGoryDetailswing from Nashua, New Hampshire USA on Friday, March 7, 2008
Quite amusing, and (dare I say it?) inspirational; I mean, who hasn't wanted to be "a ray of darkness in an otherwise unbearably sunny day"? [Especially if one has been the recipient of one too many "Have a nice day"s at the mall.]

Among the bits that made me chortle, and sometimes cackle aloud: the suggestions for enhancing one's undead forces with cardboard reinforcements or a large curtain painted with a trompe l'oeil scene - Villains Do Stagecraft? And the description of the dungeon (as a lair-location) remarked on the risks of the "tiresome antics" of bands of adventurers, "as well as the constant sound of dice rolling in the background." Hee! And to continue the gamer-geek thread, I think *my* henchmen will be computer programmers.

Favorite line of all: "Remember, spandex is a privilege, not a right."

Despite the humor, there are a few truly evil concepts here; the page on "marketing executives" gave me cold chills, and the bit on "mass media" even more so: "People will think they are free, but in reality, they are slaves, mindless and controlled by the very entertainment they pay to see - world domination for the new millenium." [This would bother me more if I weren't so eagerly awaiting the start of the next "Top Chef" series. Oh, wait... I'm doooooomed!]

Oh, and I spotted a typo: on page 9, among the suggestions for getting started, there's the line "Release a demonic hoard on a peaceful township." Should be "horde," methinks. [Pause for evil laughter from... Vocabulary Scourge!]

The book will be on its way to BCer randomelement in Massachusetts tomorrow. Thanks for sharing this one!

Nice fun read. Thanks for sharing it. :-)

From all the previous comments, this is one of the books I had highly anticipated reading and it arrived in the mail yesterday! This book will also help me to cross "Z" off my list in the Author's Challenge. I have received several bookrays at the same time, but promise to read this in a timely manner, then pass it on. Thanks chich for including me in this bookray, and randomelement for sending it to me.

Journal Entry 26 by elle311 from Suffolk, Virginia USA on Monday, July 14, 2008
I read this book in one evening, how delightfully devious it is! I was proud/embarrassed of the fact that I knew just what the author was talking about when he mentioned succubus, orcs, and other creatures that would make nice henchmen. I laughed out loud when I read the description of the dungeon as a fine location for a lair..."The only problem with dungeon lairs is the scarce supply of adventurers intruding to explore them. When they do show up, be prepared for their tiresome antics, as well as the constant sound of dice rolling in the background." This was especially funny since my dear husband is a dungeon-dweller fanatic! I would love to own an orbital mind-control laser since I am the mother of two sons that claim they never hear what I say (Did you put away your clothes? Don't you touch your brother! It's time for your nap!) Then I could just make them do my bidding.

I kept this book a little while longer because when my son saw the cover, he immediately wanted to read it and started laughing maniacally (Bwa-ha-ha-ha!!!). His review:"It was AWESOME and COOL! I love the book and want to keep it...do not give it away!" I knew I should have bought it on Amazon when they had it for $2.49!

Thanks chich for sharing with me ;) PM'd innae so this book should be traveling soon...

ETA: I swear I did not read Gory's entry before doing mine...guess going to gaming conventions and living with a miniature lead figure collector/hoarder has made me a geek girl gamer at heart!

I was perusing my TBR books, and this one showed up, but I clearly remembered mailing it out. So....

Journal Entry 32 by RonOren from Wassenaar, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Journal Entry 33 by RonOren from Wassenaar, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Friday, January 2, 2009
Chuckle rather than laugh out loud, but I did really enjoy this one. I liked how the book reads as any self-help/training book, notwithstanding its, let's say not quite standard topic. And I loved the "spandex is a privilege, not a right"!

Thanks very much for sharing this, chich! Nothing like a good chuckle to start up the New Year :-). I'll get in touch with iliotropo and get the book moving as soon as I can.

Journal Entry 34 by RonOren from Wassenaar, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Monday, January 19, 2009

I had some...evil laughs, but after finishing this entertaining little book, I´ve understood that I don´t really have what it takes to be a genuine villain (apart from the fact that I´m a lawyer, but I´m afraid it´s not enough...).
Already on its way to Leisha Camden. Happy reading!

Journal Entry 36 by wingLeishaCamdenwing from Alna bydel, Oslo fylke Norway on Sunday, February 8, 2009
This book arrived in the mail on Friday, but I'm only getting around to journalling it now, sorry. It looks like a very intriguing read!! I'll no doubt devour it to learn all the details I need to start my new life as an evil villain. Just as soon as I finish my current read ... I will soon be ready to unleash my reign of evil on this unsuspecting city!!

Journal Entry 37 by wingLeishaCamdenwing from Alna bydel, Oslo fylke Norway on Tuesday, March 10, 2009
I've read this book now, actually a couple of weeks ago ... I'm just such a slow journaller. But I had fun reading the book ... it's quite clever and well written (except that awful typo that Gory already mentioned). I was also quite struck by the mass media/entertainment industry bit that she again already pointed out :-) ... a great example of how humor can actually say a lot about serious things.

Everyone else already said everything so I'm not sure what more I can add. :-) A very fun read, I will certainly take away some valuable lessons from this book. Mwahahahahaha!!!!

I've PMed RockDg9 for an address, so hopefully this book will be on the road again soon. Thanks for sharing, chich!!

This arrived yesterday, and I read it last night.

It's a villainous little book! I loved the retro artwork, I think without the art this book wouldn't work. The author seems a little passive-aggressive at times, but that's what makes it so fun.
