Here's what I said about a previous copy of this book:

This was a truly remarkable book, not least for its vivid, original characters--I'd like to adopt Swede myself. Any book that could weave miracles and Bible verses into a gripping, suspenseful plot without making me uncomfortable (as even the slightest hint of preaching or proselytizing always does) is an amazing accomplishment. I really, really liked this book--too bad I won't be able to attend the book group session I read it for.
