I just love this book - as much as I love the movie!
one of the rare cases when the book is as good as the movie....

I'm going to send this new copy (I won't give away my very own one:-)) as my 'this-year's-mystery-bookring'
and I added a little surprise as well! :-)

...First published well, in 1973 actually, this book spawned the Rob Reiner-directed cult film of the same name. It's a tongue-in-cheek fairytale of love, life, action, death and life again. Featuring the obligatory handsome Prince and supremely beautiful princess, it also boasts a Spanish sword wizard, the Zoo of Death, a chocolate-coated resurrection pill and lots of villains, who span the spectrum from evil, through even more evil to (gasp) most evil. And then there's Fezzik, the gentle giant addicted to rhyming.... (amazon)

Das Buch hat sich heute auf den Weg zur Schneefee gemacht!

*lol*
it seems that Kiki and I have the same taste concerning beloved books :-)
I came across this book through base flatteries in the German forum and took part in a German bookring. Then I wanted to read the original and signed for the english bookring - but before the ring reached me I bought it myself to OWN it :-D

This copy looks lovely, smells like "New Book" (which reminds me of summer holidays in the hammock in my parents' garden ;-)), has a good font size, a very pretty map inside - aaaaand it contains the first chapter of a story called "Buttercups Baby - the long lost sequel" and that interests me a lot :-D
(Plus: I haven't seen the movie yet)

I think I won't delay the book's journey for long, but I will finish the ring I'm currently reading first.

well, now I've kept it loger than I wanted because my workmate saw me packing the book in an envelope and wanted to read it, too - until he realized it was English ;-) So he preferred the DVD.
Anyhow, the Princess Bride is ready to leave Dortmund now. I hope I will manage to go to the PO this week.

Well, I`ve never heard of this book before and it's surely no book I'd pick at a bookstore. So let's see how I like it.

I'm afraid that wasn't my cup of tea at all. I started to read the book twice but always gave up after about 50 pages. Then I read a little in the middle but that didn't encourage me to go on reading, either. Well, we don't have all the same taste - fortunately. So the book is now on its way to the next participant and hope she'll like it better than I did.

Ohhh - I so love this book! I first read it in last year's "favorite book roundabout" and it was the one I liked best of them all. I've never seen the film, though, so I'll give it a try tonight (just what I've been waiting for :-)).
Tomorrow or on Wednesday, I'll send the book to the next participant.

It was in my letter box today. I was surprised the envelope contained a book AND a CD. Now I have to figure out what to start with.
