Hurrah another Iris Murdock to read..planning to read very soon.
Journal Entry 4 by Janey-Liz from -- Somewhere in Shropshire, Shropshire United Kingdom on Thursday, August 9, 2007
This is a hard book to write a journal entry about, as I loved this book and was fascinated by it from beginning to end, but I find it very hard to convey what it is that is so great. Not a lot happens for pages at a time, and there is a lot of description about swims in the sea and what the protagonist had for supper. I spent most of the time while reading this book mildly irritated by the protagonist. To me the main theme is concerning the eccentric attitude to relationships of the main character and although the sea plays a part of building the landscape and the environment to the story I am not sure how great a significance part it plays to the theme of the book.
I am probably not convincing you to read this book unless you are already a Murdock fan but honestly it is worth the leap of faith...give it a try..
