Ever since I saw my first "Hard Case Crime" book, I was strongly attracted to its covers. Then I found out that Stephen King wrote one, with little or no fanfare or publicity. Straight to paperback... so, I had to buy it.

Ouch.
It's Stephen King at his shortest, but that's hardly crime. This novel is really just three talking heads and little more besides some fish and chips. It does explore the nature of mystery, but is likely the least thrilling of the entire Hard Case Crime. It's far away, in fact, from being thrilling.
Any of the CAT WHO books contains more violence and suspence... things that would make this worthy of the name Hard Case.
Still... I wonder if the real mystery here is what part of the Dark Tower series do we meet the victim? Hmmmmmm...
