Not quite as knock-out as Behind the Scenes at the Museum, but still an intriguing read.

Off to my NSSEB 2007 partner - Happy Easter!

Ooooohhhhhh this is so spooky! This is one of 5 (yes 5!) great books I got from my NSSEB! (Apologies in being a day late in journalling them - I couldn't get to a computer yesterday!) Now back to the spooky bit! The other day I was making release notes for my NSSEB releases and at the time I was reading: "Behing the Scenes at the Museum" - which I loved. I looked down the left hand side of the screen at the recently released books and saw that "Flanners" has just released "Human Croquet". Well I clicked on it to read the review and saw it had gone to a NSSEB partner and thought - " I want that book!" Little did I know that I was the Easter Bunny recipient and it was for me! :-)

Not sure what I was expecting of this novel. I loved Behind the Scenes at the Museum and really enjoy the Jackson Brodie series of books and this was not like either although clearly KA distinct style. A sort of fairy tale encompassing folk lore and fairy tales along with literary references from the likes of Dickens and Shakespeare. I like how the book resolved itself as towards the middle I had no idea where any of it was going and how it could possibly resolve.

Taking along to the meet up tonight!

Picked up at the end of a Bookcrossing meet here in Oxford on Wednesday evening.

I LOVE this book, I've read it in book form and listened to an audio version. It's one that I know I'll return to again at some point. I've read most of Kate Atkinson's books and this remains my favourite.

Audrey Baxter (some years further on in her life) is mentioned in another of Kate Atkinson's books; I was on holiday reading it and remember nearly falling off the sofa when I got to that part!

This has sat on the book swap trolley for ages (although it may have been and come back in the meantime as books are moving from there) so I've brought it home to pass on elsewhere.
