The Poisonwood Bible

I'm only about 2/3 through the book, but I'm headed out of town and thought I'd free the book when I finish with it. So far it's excellent, but when I've mentioned it to a few friends I've gotten this strange look and they say it's sad. But it was recommended to me by a fellow reader. By complete coincidence it's my 3rd book about Central Africa in the last 6 months.
I finally finished the book and I thought it was fabulous. I thought parts of it were really funny, it was educational, and I didn't find it to be particularly sad.
