The brig 'Sea-Witch' was carrying a precious cargo over the Atlantic. The kind that lined mens' pockets at the expense of other human beings' dignity and welfare.
For the victims of the corrupt seamen / slave traders, it was a brutal and degrading life. Rape, flogging, squalor and sickness were just the good parts.
Adam Holt could only stand by, helpless as things degenerated.

It seems these books enjoyed a successful but brief career as popular novels.
This one came accross as sensationalist immature and frankly boring. But, then, I don't like this kind of book.
Found in a secondhand bookshop languishing on the SF shelf(?), it still deserves a chance out there.
I'm going to list it on chanceXchange for a couple of weeks, and if nobody wants it, it'll go onto the shelf in Terminus Rd.
