'When Dalziel met Pascoe' - free with the latest in the sublime crime series.
I have read this in the past, as part of a 1994 anthology (D&P short stories) called 'Asking for the Moon'. I'm reading it again anyway, cos I like Reginald Hill, and this will whet my appetite for the latest full-size novel in the series, the prophetic, 'The Death of Dalziel'...or is it...??

This does exactly what it says on the tin; bluff, northern 'fat' Andy meets degree-entry soft southerner Peter Pascoe and the die is cast! Polar opposites from the start, the verbal sparring, clash of styles and grudging mutual respect is all there. The vehicle chosen by Hill to 'manufacture' their first meeting is a bit contrived and unusually puts Dalziel in a position of weakness, but the claustrophobic '2-hander' works well nonetheless.
