I give up! I've really tried to get into this book, but my thoughts are just wandering of and I can't remember a word of what I've read.
I do not particularly like these books by women who are trying to find themselves in this unfair male world! I may be cynical, but I do not buy it. (Or maybe I'm just lucky living in Norway!)

Arrived today - thank you! I must admit I thought this was another one of her fiction books. But, ok, I will give it a go =)

This book really isn't me. It's my own fault, as I just saw the name Sue Monk Kidd, and because I'd enjoyed Secret Life of Bees, I thought this would be more of the same. But I am not interested in spirituality books about awakening and finding oneself. And as soon as I see phrases like "...no two women's journeys into the Sacred Feminine are the same", "Divine Feminine Presence" etc, alarm bells go off for me. I have read a little bit of this, to be fair, but I can't face reading a whole book about all of this.

Now, living over here in Western Europe, we are very lucky in what we are able to do and the freedoms we have. So maybe if you come from a society where it's church and being good, get married, have kids, raise your family and keep house - where everyone does this and it's just the accepted done thing - maybe it is a big and marvellous surprise to realise that there can be more in women's lives. But I am a cynical Brit and I feel life is too short to be reading long books about finding the divine female self etc and I would rather be out there living life and doing what I want to do because this is my life and I only get one shot at it... not worrying about being a woman and where my goddess within in.

I am a very cynical person at times, and I don't want to knock people who are into this kind of
stuff. If that's what you're interested in and that is what you want to do with your life, then you have every right to do so, just as I have every right not to.

Soo.... thanks Haugtussa for sending this to me. I feel kind of ungrateful that I am not going to read anymore of it - sorry! I will release it though, so hopefully it will find a more patient, less cynical and overall more willing reader.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I will leave it somewhere around the church when I go for a walk. It's a lovely sunny day, so I hope there are people about and someone picks it up.

Edit: I left it at the main doors of the church, propped up behind one of the little stone columns - you can't miss it.
