"Synopsis
Beijing detective Li Yan, now based at the Chinese embassy in Washington, is dispatched to find out how his fellow countrymen suffocated in a sealed refrigeration unit in southern Texas - only to find himself face to face with the woman who walked out of China, and his life, to return to the U.S. Tasked to work together again to find out who is behind the 100-million-dollar trade in illegal Chinese immigrants which led to the tragedy in Texas, they discover that the immigrants were unwitting carriers of a deadly cargo. Still wrestling with the demons of their past, Li and Margaret find themselves racing against time to defuse a biological time-bomb that threatens to wipe out not only their future, but that of humankind.
About the Author
Peter May has been a journalist (Scotsman, Glasgow Evening Times), a writer on the hugely successful Scottish TV soap opera Take the High Road and the creator of three TV series: The Standard, Squadron and Machair, which is the Gaelic-language equivalent of Brookside. He spent six months in China, much of it researching his first novel, THE FIREMAKER."
An entertaining book with some clever ideas, albeit an unlikely plot at times! Enjoyed reading about Margaret and Li Yan in USA for a change. I've not been reading these books in correct order so I knew what was in store for their relationship before they did!

Always up for a bit of murder! Thanks for this one triggerfish.
Picked up at last night's Meet Up. Thanks
Good read...Maybe the good cop/bad cop routine was a bit cliched but I did like the Li Yan/Margaret Campbell relationship and I thought the whole Chinese angle was well researched.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Off to find a new home. Happy reading
Thank you for this wishlist book. I still have the previous two in the China series to read so it may be a while before I read it.
I thought the plot was a bit too far fetched. It's my least favourite book in the China series but I still found it difficult to put down.
I've just ordered the final two books in the series.
I've just ordered the final two books in the series.
I'm passing this on to my non-bookcrosser friend.
I have this back from my friend. She enjoyed it and so did her daughter and neighbour.
Sending to someone who is following this series.
Thank you Dolph1n.
