The profile picture of this book isn't the same as the book (just letting you know)

Behind Edinburgh's regimented Georgian facades, its moral compasses are spinning with greed, dishonesty, lust and murderous intent. Isabel Dalhouse knows this. Isabel in fact, rather relishesit. An accomplished philosopher and editor if the Review of Applied Ethics, she knows all about the difference between good and bad. Which is probably why, by instinct, she is an amateur sleuth. And instinct tells her the man who tumbled to his death in front of her eyes after a concert in the Usher Hall didn't fall. He was pushed...

I finally managed to read this book and really enjoyed it. Sorry, that it took me so long!

In comparison to his Botswana books, it is not that dense in athmosphere and while reading it did not feel like being in Edinburgh. What I love best about McCall Smith is that his main characters are women, strong-willed but very civilised and calm ladies. They are definetely persons I would like to meet in person.

Thanks again for this RABCK, 24-7-365Reader!

So let's see where this book will go next.

thank you very much for this book that was on the wishlist of my wife.
She's very pleased with it and looking forward to reading it!
thanks a lot!

Seems with all the trouble with the new site, the journal entry of my wife is nowhere to be found.

She loved the book and is trying to find one to keep at home, so that I and our daughter would have a chance to read it too. Thank you so much for sharing this book!

Quite nice story, not that interesting what I expected. Well, I think just a proper mystery for a fine lady like Isabel Dalhousie! Well written, I could read also other mysteries which Isabel is investigating.

I picked the book from Finnish Mystery Box. I am looking forward to starting a new mystery series by Alexander McCall Smith.
Thank you for the book, Appelsiini!

I agree with Schmusefluse about the main characters in many books by Alexander McCall Smith. They are persons I would like to meet in real life. This even slower than the Botswana books but isn't Slow Life rather appreciated nowadays? This is a cozy detective novel at its coziest and with philosophical discussions.
This book is unsuitable for tose who like fast action and blood in their books but this book is most suitable for me. I like it.

This is my # 17 in
"KEEP THEM MOVING 2011" Challenge arranged by Booklady331.

Got this from Annelis. Looking forward to reading something else by Mr McCall Smith apart from the Number One Ladies of Botswana.
