I read this book because I wanted to read as much as possible about the African contnient before my trip to Africa. It's enjoyable and not a hard read however there are some very harrowing sections related to female circumcision (FMG). I found the first half of the book better than the second half as I felt Waris rushed through her modelling career. None the less, an enjoyable read.

My daughter (Fiona)'used' the book as part of our Out of Africa 40th birthday celebration. She launched many books and this was one of them. All guests were encouraged to take a book, read it and send it on its way to someone else. I took it, I've read it and now I'm releasing it to my dear friend Jane Robertson on 26 June 2007 in Brisbane.
