I really struggled to put this down, in a way that I haven't had with a book in a long time. DI Caffrey was an interesting character - motivated by his own past to be a policeman. At the beginning of the story, a young boy is abducted from a house where his parents are found chained to radiators. Caffrey must try to find out what has happened to Rory Peach and his parents and find the boy, whilst wrestling with his own history.
