A duplicate copy of a wonderful book set in the Black Country and full of humour and charm.

Can't remember where I got this book now but it's likely to be a box of books from Caffcaff or a bag of books from the Red Cross charity shop.

This book is being registered for the Never Judge A Book By Its Cover release challenge - Week 6: Valentines. The cover is bright pink!

I like releasing local books locally, so this will go into one of the OBCZs in Birmingham.

Another one to my ever increasing and quite huge TBR - but I'm its one I'll enjoy eventually.

Synopsis
The story of nine-year-old Meena, the daughter of the only Punjabi family in the Midlands' mining village of Tollington. The novel provides a vision of British childhood in the 1960s, a childhood caught between two cultures, each on the brink of enormous change.

This is an often touching portrayl of a midland's childhood. Meena is torn between two cultures - and her life is often something of a confsion. She is forever getting herself into trouble. Meena finds the older Anita - a local girl - fascinating - and wants to be just like her. However over the next year or so she learns a lot about her family, Anita and herself.
