The Fionavar Tapestry comprises three novels, The Summer Tree, The Wandering Fire, and The Darkest Road. In it, our heroes (native Torontonians) are transported to an alternative, parallel universe where they must battle "The Great Unraveller" of the ultimate Tapestry of existence. Each of the five young heros has a unique role to play in the battle for existence.

This book was quite a tome. Quite a tome. GGKay was an author hired by Tolkien's estate to aid in the editorial completion of The Silmarillion. To me, Tolkien's influence on Kay is blaringly obvious in this adventure, as was pronounced Christian symbolism in The Summer Tree. I found the three books very entertaining, although they all sound absolutely ludicrous if one tries to quickly summarize the plot to your partner while reading in bed at night. (One last thing, this edition has a dragon on the cover. Don't be fooled - the dragon appears on all of TWO pages of this 775-page epic. I only note this because my partner asked repeatedly, "so...when does the DRAGON come in??"

Overall, a good read.
