I was unpacking this from my Powells shipment, and it just called to me. So I started reading it, and I've had a hard time putting it down. I really like the author's development of the vampire story in her universe.

I enjoyed this book, especially the characters and the dialogue and some of the vampire details. But I could have done with a little less of the violent sex. I know, that's surprising, considering how much I like the Buffy/Spike pairing, but it was just a tad too much in this book. I was also a little disappointed by how little actual sleuthing took place in the story, but perhaps the rest of the series will be different, now that Bill has some sort of official capacity. I'm guessing this book was more set-up than anything else.
