The Devil Wears Prada

From the blurb:
"When Andrea first sets foot in the plush Manhttan offices of Runway she knows nothing. She's never heard of the world's most fashionable magazine, or its feared and fawned-over editor, Miranda Priestly. Soon she knows way too much..."
I thorougly enjoyed this book, although I can't tell how much of it was due to the book actually being good, and how much was just because it was the first book I'd read in a long time just because I wanted to read it, not because I felt obliged to for some reason. It was kind of a guilty pleasure.
I plan to send it out on a bookring for others to enjoy.

Posted to Charliewendy today.
Thanks sugaryfun. The book has arrived safe and sound. It is next on my to be read list.
It took me a while to get into this, probably because I was expecting it to be funny. Initially it seemed to be a journal of the outrageous excesses of the Boss-from-hell. Eventually though, other characters were introduced and I found myself more interested in Andy's personal life than her work life. I felt the ending was a bit sudden and I would have liked to hear more about what happened to Lily, Alex and Christian. This should probably be essential reading for youngsters who are hoping to break into the fashion and design industry.
I have pmed silvermoonwyrm for an address.
Thanks Sugaryfun for sharing!

Off to silvermoonwyrm today!
This book has come back to me - "Return to sender - No such person" I have just pm'ed silvermoonwyrm to double check her address.
I have reposted today after a "postal malfunction". Fingers crossed it gets delivered this time.
Picked it up from the Post Office today. They blame the parcel delivery guy, apparently he does that all the time. One wonders why they don't just get a new one then. But anyway, it's here, and safe, and at the top of my Mt TBR (should be round to it in a few days)
I have this problem with books some times. I get so sucked into the story that I start to confuse myself with the main character. I take it as a sign of incredibly good writing, but it can be very annoying. Like the time when I was about 8, and read for two hours past lights out, and when I saw the time, I thought, 'oh, my mum will let me get away with it because I'm so sick'. Then as I was going across the room to turn the light off, I realised I was perfectly healthy, it was the main character in the book I was reading who was very ill. I sneaked the rest of the way across the room and bolted back to bed.
This book gave a similar effect to me. I felt rushed and harassed every time I stopped for a coffee or smoke. My neck and shoulders were so tense. And my kids were all tucked into bed, so I know it wasn't them for a change. No, Andrea felt anxious, and so did I. It was a great book, and I love the bit not quite at the end (the fashion show bit, without too many spoilers) but in all honesty, I couldn't say it was a relaxing read lol. But I did enjoy it.
Sending off to alice2623663 tomorrow.

I'm currently trying to track this one down. Apparently Silvermoonwyrm sent it off but I haven't heard from it since.
This one has officially stalled. It looks like it was somehow lost in the post. Oh well. I'm glad some people got to read it first. Thanks to all participants.
