Not what I expected at all, though I'm not sure exactly what that was! It was easy to read, well written and funny, though I'm not sure that I picked up all the subtleties, symbolism and wordplays. I was drawn by the author to have sympathy for and loathe HH alternately - and the same for Lolita.
It's a book that can be read at a superficial level, but no doubt has amazing depth if you re-read and study it.

This is now in PC as it is being used as a resource for a project. It has my personal hieraglyphic notes on it so won't be available for loan :o)
