The already-hazy border between politics and soap opera blurs even more when a spin doctor uses a popular soap to promote his candidate. And with its unlikely coincidences, identical twin brothers, and plots within plots, the line between novel and soap opera gets pretty blurred as well. Just like a soap opera, though, the book is strangely compelling, drawing you into the characters' lives, even the really unpleasant ones. Plus there's the fun of spotting all the thinly disguised real-life references... :-)
