I just finished this book. I really enjoy the way Patterson weaves the personal life of the main character Alex Cross with his investigation of a serial killer. The Killer's back story is thrilling and sets up an alternate game that he plays with others that is the foundation of why he kills. Cross begins the novel with his continuing romance with Christine Johnson, the principal at his children's school. It is fun to see Cross soften in his interaction with her. The contrast between this Cross and the determined investigator creates a fun and thrilling drama. This book is exciting to the end. It constantly adds new twists and turns. It's a great read.
