I, like everyone else, liked this shit out of Eggers' first book. This one looks great, and has been added to the queue.

I'm one of the many people who really enjoyed Eggers' first book, heartbreaking etc etc and so I am surprised to report that I just threw in the towel on this one, having read to around page 150. I just couldn't get into this book. At all. It deals with issues of death and guilt and suffering in ways that are tired and just plain uninteresting. I'm kind of a McSweeney's groupie, and so again, I'm surprised to have found this book to be so poorly written. I do not recommend it, but I will release it into the wild sometime soon and hopefully somebody else will get more out of this book than I was able to.
