Journal Entry 4 by TITurtle1 from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA on Monday, March 24, 2008
Reading my last journal entry on this book, I didn't realize I could read movies.

To tell the truth, I didn't find the book funny. I was reading the reviews at the back of the book and many of them claimed that the book was "funny." Really? I don't see it, I guess the humor was buried somewhere beneath the grief. The reality of it is, I'm not easily offended by book material, and I wasn't by this one. However, I feel that it is a far stretch to call the story "hilarious," or "funny." It is, in every sense of the word, disturbing.

However, that being said, it doesn't cancel out the quality of the work. I was very intrigued by the book. I thought it was entertaining, but in the sense that it mesmerized me, sucked me in. I wanted to know what happened because I cared about the characters, not because it was humorous. It was nothing less than a page-turner. After finishing this book, I really wanted to know what others thought of the book. I must say some of the reviews were quite harsh. Some of the descriptions citing poor writing. However, if the writing was flawless, I doubt that would have the same impact as it had on me. The writing fit the character for the most part.

It is truly shocking to know what some people live through. The author brought a part of himself to the book, and it was excellent.

I would recommend this book to anyone. However, I would caution against anyone who is really offended by graphic material.

Thank you so much for sending this to me YOL! :]
