This book is about 'Sheila', a girl abandoned by her mother on a public highway in the US when she was 4 years old. She is sent to a special school after committing an act of horrific violence against another child.

Everybody thinks she's beyond help - with the exception of her teacher, the author of the book, Torey Hayden.

I read this whilst studying Psychology at AS Level (as a mature student), as it deals with separation anxiety.

It wasn't the best read in the world, but is a real story of triumph against the poorest of starts in life.
