Malcolm Gladwell explores the intriguing area of intuition. He makes some interesting points concerning how much we rely on cues from our unconsious to make snap judgments and decisions.

His observations about pattern recognition caught my attention. If we can train ourselves to recognize and identify when a particular pattern is operating, we've given ourselves another navagational tool.

My problem with Blink is that the author goes further, past pattern recognition, into the realm of prediciton without sufficient scientific data to support his conclusions. I was particularly dismayed by the section on body language. If we could reliably tell from body language if a person was telling the truth or not, what a different world this would be. The court system alone would operate on an entirely different level.
