Julie Barenson's young husband left her two unexpected gifts before he dies - a Great Dane puppy named Singer and the promise that he would always be watching over her. Now, four years have passed. Still living in the small town of Swansboro, 29 year old Julie is emotionally ready to make a commitment to someone again. But who? Choosing someone should bring her more happiness than she's had in years. Instead, Julie is soon fighting for her life in a nightmare spawned by a chilling deception and jealousy so poisonous that it has become a murderous desire...

I enjoyed this book. It was a romance but with the thriller touch to it. Just wanted to keep reading it till i'd finished it. Passing this on to WelshHelen now who took it out of the VBB Round 8. Hope you enjoy it Helen.

Thanks, Calalilly :-) The book arrived a few days ago but I forgot to journal it - sorry! I'll add it to my growing Mount TBR!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book (sorry it took me so long to get to it!) with the romance and thriller elements nicely balanced. I loved Mike and his relationship with Henry made me smile. The tension built up nicely throughout and the ending wasn't rushed, which often happens with books like this. A great storyline, excellent writing and well-drawn characters made this a real pleasure.

This was my first Nicholas Sparks book but certainly won't be my last. Thanks for sharing, Calalilly. I'm going to send the book on to another Bookcrosser who has it on their wishlist.

This book arrived whilst I was away on holiday. I would like to read all the Nicholas Sparks' books, so thanks very much for sending me this one =) I have just read the blurb and it sounds very intriguing. I have a few bookrings to read first, so this may stay on the TBR pile for a while but hopefully not too long =)

I enjoyed this book. Not a usual Nicholas Sparks as it had the added thriller aspect, which has not been in the others I have read of his. I liked the character of Mike and I thought the story was well developed and as WelshHelen commented the ending wasn't rushed. Stayed up to read this book as I was hooked and wanted to know how it would end.
