I have already released this book some time ago. this one just turned up in the box. I remember it being a good read about post-partum depression. Not the jolliest of novels; it is written by a man and I found some of the emotion expressed a little bit unbelievable but since I have never been an author or had post-partum depression I am unqualified to comment.

Having ten minutes to spare before an appointment for a haircut in Ashton-on-Mersey village, I popped into Age Concern to check out their bookselves. I've been a Bookcrosser for a while, so I was really surprised and pleased to spot the familiar running book logo across the spine of A Special Relationship. Naturally, it has come home with me!

I aim to have this read and released again within the next few months ;-)

It takes a brave man to write from a woman's perspective, particularly when dealing with such intensely female experiences as childbirth and its emotional aftermath. I'm not sure Douglas Kennedy is all that convincing. He seems to get into his stride about half way through the book when the action really begins.

A good enough read, but not one that made any great impression with me.
