"In February 2000, writer Lea Asckenas finds her way to Cuba with plans for a short visit. Already a seasoned traveler when she arrives, she soon finds herself caught up in the contradictions of Cuban life and the people´s unique blend of innocence, resignation, and resolute optimism."
An interesting book of life in Cuba.

I could not resist any longer and opened the book one day before the actual birthday ;-) Looks very interesting - I have never been to Cuba, so I am eager to discover it. Many thanks Stormon.

This book was a lovely surprise. Given to me a few years ago), I did not know what to expect. I was particularly interested in the daily life in Cuba and the details of Cuba-US politics. The way it is being told, i.e. with a real love story as a background, made it feel real and contributed to an easy summer reading experience (yet informative) instead of an academic one. Since traveling is still difficult during this Covid-19 pandemic it was a very enjoyable armchair travel book.
