A Christmas RABCK. Enjoy!
A Christmas RABCK. Enjoy!

Hurray! Thank you BabyFlyLady! My first ever RABCK, totally unexpected! We're planning to spend a couple of weeks in the Pyrenees this summer, so this will be great for getting me in the mood for planning the trip and escaping into the mountains for a while...

An entertaining read, and most appropriate that my head is now full of images of the Pyrenees since we've just booked our summer holidays there again...
Some funny sections, and a great way to relax, but not a laugh-out-loud side-splitter. This book is much more reflective, and concerned with relationships (or the lack thereof), than I remember his other book "Round Ireland With a Fridge" being. But then, I guess buying a second home in the Pyrenees is indeed a little more grown-up than taking on a bet that you can't hitch-hike all the way around Ireland with a fridge... Sadly in this book the piano is of a regular size, and rather than trying to hitch Tony Hawkes actually plans transportation in advance (sort of)... The picture of a man saying "can you take me to Perpingnon? And by the way, can you fit this piano in?" is much more amusing than anything that appears in the book.
Still, it has certainly reminded me how much I like spending time in the mountains, and is getting me all excited about my own holiday plans (even though the actual trip is still a while off yet)...
Thanks again to BabyFlyLady for moving this off my Wish List and into my grubby paws...

To be released at the meet-up this afternoon...

THat's the beauty of Bookcrossing - you can pick up a book and find that you don't really like it. Not quite my style - back to the Bookcrossing meet this afternoon

Picked up at the meet up. I'll try and remember to let you know about the next meet, but if you don't hear from me by the 15th november, send me a PM to remind me

just started reading this adn was childishly excited to find out I'd been to the town he mentions in the first few pages. My friend was living in tarbes for a year, so we went out to visit her.

A really enjoyable read, as is said, more reflective than humorous, but a lovely light look at different cultures.
Will be passed on at the next meet up.
